Useful Links for ACT

There are two possible law requirements for development consent in the ACT - Development Approval (DA) and Building Approval (BA). For many proposed developments, a DA and BA will be required. However, some projects may not need it. For most minor works, a DA and BA may not be necessary.

An accredited building certifier can determine and report if DA is exempt in accordance with Schedule 1 of Planning & Development Regulation 2008. When DA is not eligible for exempt development - contact the ACTPLA Environment and Planning Directorate Gateway Team on 02 6205 2888 and request to speak to a planner.
